Aero Stool

 Meet the Aero Stool.

Inspired by the delicate dance of wind through the forest, the graceful curves are captured by the movement of water rolling off tree branches and leaves, seamlessly blending nature's fluidity with a minimalistic design approach.

The design is stackable, light-weight and made from a single 2x4, joined without using nails or glue.

DESIGN PROCESS

Inspiration: By observing how people naturally position their feet when sitting on a stool, I noticed that it tends to push their feet backward. This insight led me to design a form that accommodates this natural foot position, enhancing comfort and ergonomics.

How it’s made: Crafted as a single 2x4 piece of pine wood. I carefully cut it into thin 2.5mm layers, soaked them in wood glue using a cold bending method, and then stacked seven veneers together to form each leg. These were secured in a custom-made jig. The legs were joined with miter joints, eliminating the need for nails or extra glue. The stool, strong and graceful, can hold up to 250 lbs, embodying the natural elegance that inspired its creation.
